Industrial wastewater treatment has emerged as a critical environmental challenge in Jabalpur district, Madhya Pradesh, where rapid industrialization has significantly impacted water quality and environmental sustainability. This study presents a comprehensive analytical evaluation of industrial wastewater treatment effluents in Jabalpur district, examining the effectiveness of current treatment technologies and their compliance with regulatory standards. The research objectives included assessment of physicochemical parameters of treated effluents, evaluation of treatment efficiency, analysis of regulatory compliance, and identification of pollution sources. A cross-sectional survey methodology was employed, utilizing stratified random sampling of 45 industrial units across different sectors in Jabalpur district. Water samples were collected from inlet and outlet points of treatment facilities and analyzed for key parameters including pH, BOD, COD, TSS, TDS, and heavy metals using standard analytical methods. The hypothesis posited that industrial wastewater treatment effluents in Jabalpur district exceed permissible limits set by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), contributing to environmental degradation. Results indicated significant variations in effluent quality across different industrial sectors, with textile and pharmaceutical industries showing highest pollution loads. Treatment efficiency ranged from 65-85% for conventional parameters, while heavy metal removal remained inadequate in several facilities. The study revealed that 34% of surveyed units failed to meet CPCB discharge standards, particularly for COD and BOD parameters. Statistical analysis demonstrated strong correlations between industrial sector type and effluent quality parameters. The research concludes that while treatment infrastructure exists, operational efficiency and regulatory compliance require substantial improvement.
